What Hypnosis IS and ISN'T:
How is Hypnotism Used

Hypnosis is used to assist clients with a range of issues that are causing them problems in their life. Hypnosis can also be used to maximize skills (such as in a sport) or to assist in improving one's mental focus (as in test taking, preparation for public speaking, business sales). It also has been shown to be a significant and very effective approach to stress reduction and management.

Although it can be used for entertainment, clients typically either want to do something they currently cannot do or want to do better, or to stop doing something they currently do.

Hypnosis is simply another tool to enable the therapist/hypnotist to enhance the positive results of working with clients on their issues that are negatively impacting their lives and possibly their relationships.

Hypnosis refers to a state or condition in which the client becomes highly responsive to suggestions. Memory and awareness of self can be altered by suggestions.

Many in the general public have many misconceptions about what hypnosis does or doesn't do:
· The Hypnotist does NOT control you
· Cannot force you to do anything against your will or moral judgment
· Cannot force you to reveal secrets
· Hypnosis is not sleep
· Hypnosis is a naturally occurring state of mind, very similar to deep relaxation or meditation
· You cannot get "stuck" in Hypnosis
· You are conscious of your surroundings, aware of sounds, voices, and always aware of your thoughts
· You do not lose consciousness
· You never lose control of yourself, your thoughts or actions

The most successful clients are:
· Self motivated
· Committed to positive change
